1919 A londoni Imperial War Museumban őrzött negatívról készült fekete-fehér képeslap méretű fénykép . Egy evezős csónak egy hivalkodóan nagy fehér zászlóval halad az S.M.S. mellett. Erzherzog Franz Ferdinand, az Arzenál mellett horgonyozva, háttérben az óriásdaruval, a megszállt Polában. Míg társhajói a S.M.S. A rowboat with an ostentatiously large White Ensign makes its way alongside S.M.S. Erzherzog Franz Ferdinand, anchored next to the Arsenal, with the giant crane in the background, in occupied Pola. While her sisters S.M.S. Radetzky and Zrínyi fled south with a skeleton Croatian crew to avoid the ignominy of being seized by Italy, S.M.S. Erzherzog Franz Ferdinand stayed in Pola. On March 24, 1919, she was sailed to Venice (with no flag flying) and anchored off the Giudecca; she was the main attraction in the victory parade held in the Lagoon. Assigned to Italy in 1920, she was scrapped in Ancona in 1921-22. The Italians thus avenged the shelling of that port city by S.M.S. Erzherzog Franz Ferdinand on May 24, 1915, the day Rome declared war on the Habsburg Empire.
